Bridge on Sydney's Northern Beaches

Finding a partner in bridge can sometimes be challenging, especially when you are new to a club or to the game itself. You can list your interests and check others in the comments at the bottom of this article or here are some tips and possibilities to consider:

The Manly Leagues Bridge Club 2010 Addison Trophy, Gower Trophy and President's Cup Championships each run for ten sessions through February to November on our Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions respectively. The best eight percentage scores count with at least six having to be with the same partner. These championships are a great test of consistency - and reward the successful pairs with outright masterpoints as well as outright cash prizes, in addition to the normal session masterpoints and prizes. The Championships are normally played on the first session in each month but see the Club Championships flyer (or calendar) for the specific dates and other details.

Like a free game of bridge? Join the lists of fill-in players for our regular sessions that our director calls to fill-in a half table or to find a replacement for a player who is unable to play at the last moment. The requirements are:

The Manly Leagues Bridge Club offers a number of Handicap Pairs events across its regular sessions. In 2010 these are proposed for every session in February and every 5th Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday in a month that is not already involved in a special event. See the Club Calendar to confirm the dates. Handicap Pairs are played in the same way as a normal matchpoint pairs session, but the prizes are awarded to the pairs who achieve the best result compared with their normal results.

The Manly Leagues Bridge Club held its Christmas Party and AGM on Sunday 6 December. Almost 80 members enjoyed a great Christmas meal organised by Jan McLennan, and provided by the Leagues Club Bistro.
